The Ark: A Tablet is 1U, right?

Yes, it’s true. I am a dork. So much so that I built this thing. I call it the Ark, because it is basically the same size and shape as the Ark in Raiders of the Lost… Except, no face-melting, which is nice. Actually, it’s a temp-controlled, acoustically sealed rack-mount enclosure for all the AV gear a dork could want. Once the controller module is built (a smaller, 6U box on top with… yep, a mac pro in inside, and an umbilical to the big unit), everything will hook up via patch-bays, and my computers will breath air cleaner than my own. Well, duh, of course the intakes have HEPA filters! Big props go out to GizMac, who makes these enclosures pre-assembled with a four-post, 12U, 19″ rack-post set inside, along with six-inch-thick acoustic lining on everything, and a big-ass glass door on the front, for the obligatory “help, I’m trapped in a rackmount” photo.
